Safe Harbor Orange County

A JESUS-CENTERED COMMUNITY REIMAGINING INCLUSIVE SPACES TO REST, RESTORE, BELONG AND BECOME

Being a Church starts here.

We believe that being a Jesus-centered community means centering the people Christ often did, humbling the most religious of us in our tracks. As our church grows and centers more of Christ’s Beloved, so will our beliefs and values. Click the link below to read our Statement of Faith.

Orange County is home to many churches, so what makes ours unique?

We are affirming of LGBTQ+ voices.

Our church centers LGBTQ+ voices. LGBTQ+ folks have space to lead, speak, and serve in the ways the Church historically hasn’t provided. Queer people occupy all levels of leadership in our church. We provide a space for LGBTQ+ folk to be and become in the ways God has made and gifted them.

We are striving towards anti-racism work.

Orange County is home to the third-largest population of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the Nation. Unfortunately, LGBTQ+ affirming spaces are rare in Asian American Christian contexts. Pastor Gabe has a heart to create LGBTQ+ affirming spaces for Asian Americans. We are also home to many communities of color. Despite headlines about us in the news, Orange County is making strides towards a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable community. However, this anti-racism work starts in our backyard and, in our case, our church. Unfortunately, across the board, predominately white churches have caused more harm than healing. Our goal as a church is to grow in anti-racism work, which includes building relationships and reparations with BIPOC communities impacted by racism. We view allyship more like a verb than a noun.

Women are spearheading this church.

Pastor Donna is the founder and co-pastor. On top of this, mothers, women of color, other disabled women, and other Queer women are the spiritual mothers and leaders envisioning a safer and healthier approach to Church for the next generation.

Inclusion extends beyond women, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ voices.

For those deconstructing & decolonizing your faith, welcome.

For those often decentered in the church, welcome.

For those looking for rest, welcome.

For those looking for a reparative space to heal and belong, welcome.

Everyone has a story and deserves belonging in God’s Kin-dom*. You have a story, and we dream that you and yours can belong and thrive in our Church community.

*The term “Kin-dom” comes from Theologian Ada Maria Isasi-Diaz in her book Mujerista Theology: A Theology for the 21st Century.
